About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join a dynamic service team supporting customers with overhead cranes, hoists, and material handling equipment.

This is a hands-on field position involving equipment installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance.

The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team while representing the organization professionally at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Service, Repair & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to identify faults and malfunctions.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective components.
• Respond to equipment breakdown and service calls.
• Perform repairs and corrective maintenance to restore equipment to safe operating condition.

Crane & Hoist Services

• Perform inspections, repairs, and installations of overhead cranes and related equipment.
• Inspect and service:
  • Overhead cranes
  • Hoists
  • Chain falls
  • Pullers
  • Crane systems
  • Other material handling equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Identify potential equipment issues and recommend appropriate corrective action.

Field Service & Customer Support

• Travel to customer locations to perform service and maintenance activities.
• Maintain a professional image when working with customers.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Work collaboratively to complete service calls safely and efficiently.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Functional Skills & Requirements

• Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting abilities.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to order parts and maintain appropriate inventory.
• Maintain accurate maintenance reports and service documentation.
• Welding experience is considered an asset.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
• Comfortable working in a field-service environment.

Education & Experience

Required

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• College, CEGEP, vocational, or technical training.

Assets

A licensed tradesperson in one of the following is strongly preferred:

• 309A Industrial Electrician
• 442A Industrial Electrician
• 433A Industrial Mechanic / Millwright

Experience with overhead cranes, hoists, industrial equipment, or material handling systems is an asset.
